The 25-year-old goalkeeper, who has become Reading's number one this season, has seen the Royals move from the drop zone three months ago to their current position of 11th.

Reading's memorable FA Cup victory over Liverpool in January was the catalyst for their run where they won nine of their next ten Championship fixtures.

But Federici, who remains uncapped at senior level for Australia and was linked with the Italian national team last week, told Reading's official website they weren't getting ahead of themselves.

"There's not been much play-off talk about the club, but to be where we are now and for people to talk about the play-offs is a great achievement," Federici said.

The Royals are nine points behind stuttering sixth-placed Swansea City in the final play-offs spot with three rounds of Championship football to play, although Reading have a game in hand.

Nevertheless, Federici believes the Royals are more likely to push for promotion next season.

"I read in Tuesday's programme about how much better we've done in this half of the season than the first half, and we've got four games left to go so hopefully we can take this confidence and belief into next season," he said.

Federici, who was linked with moves to Premier League duo Liverpool and Tottenham during the season, will be part of the Reading side which host bottom-club Peterborough United on Saturday.

He added: "They've been relegated so there'll be no pressure on them and it should be a good game to watch."
