Adam Federici will join Schwarzer and Brad Jones as Australia's goalkeepers for the tournament. The Reading keeper knows he will have to play second fiddle unless injury strikes but he is happy to carry on learning from the Fulham man.

Federici told getbracknell.co.uk : "Mark has had a great season and has played more than 60 games, which is a real credit to him.

"He's a fantastic ambassador for Australian football and I want to emulate that.

"He's no spring chicken anymore, but he's still fighting fit and in incredible form and it's a massive year for him. He'll be one of the best keepers at the World Cup, if not the best in my eyes."

Federici will make the most of every opportunity to learn from the vastly experienced Schwarzer.

"I always talk to him and get advice from him and I like to watch what he does at training camps," he said.

"He's an over-the-top professional if you want. But that's how you have to be if you want to play at the level he is."
