ADAM Federici has capped off a stellar month in goal for Reading, receiving the npower Championship Player of the Month award for February.
Federici was instrumental throughout the month for Reading, inspiring his teammates to four successive wins with four clean sheets.
Royals boss Brian McDermott, who secured an awards double for the club after being named Manager the Month, was full of praise for the Socceroo.
"Adam is a top goalkeeper and person, everything he does is geared towards making him as good as he possibly can be on a Saturday afternoon," he said.
"He trains hard and really deserves this award. It is fantastic to see."
Peter Beagrie, an npower Player of the Month judge, echoed McDermott’s thoughts.
“Adam is proving to be one the best shot-stoppers in the division," he said. “His magnificent saves and host of clean sheets were instrumental in helping Reading to third in the table, hot on the heels of West Ham and Southampton.”
Npower Head of Sponsorship Emma Collins also congratulated Federici on his efforts,
“To not concede a league goal during February is a remarkable achievement which Adam deserves credit for," she said.
“He put in four outstanding displays last month and played a huge part in the side’s surge up the Championship table.
“On behalf of npower, I’d like to congratulate Adam, and wish him the best of luck for the rest of the season.”
Reading have now kept 16 clean sheets for the season, a Championship high, and will look to maintain their impeccable defensive record when Leicester City comes to town.
