Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini is suing New Balance, claiming they caused "considerable damage" to his feet.
Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini has got himself involved in a legal storm, suing New Balance after recently walking away from the brand, claiming the boots caused "considerable damage" to his feet.
After signing with New Balance in 2012 and agreeing to be one of the leads for the Visaro boot and sport their apparel range, the Belgian is taking the footwear and clothing giant to court.
It's believed that the figure sought is AU$3.6m, after walking away from a deal that was signed five years ago and was worth AU$1m each year.
The reason is relatively strange, with the midfielder blaming some poor play on his boots, which according to Fellaini and his management team, caused "considerable damage".

According to theĀ Daily Mail, the now Nike-wearing midfielder has taken the case to the High Court in London, explaining that New Balance's "poor quality" boots gave him foot injuries, and in turn provided a "loss of employment, inconvenience and impact on performance."
On the other hand, New Balance says that as a company, it will "vigorously defend itself" against any accusations.
According to NB, Fellaini continuously praised their "perfect" boots and ordered more.

In search of a remedy, Fellaini looked to the kit man for a fix, asking for the boots to be "steamed" and "stretched" before trainings and on game day.
In a statement released by New Balance, they are content with the situation's current status and "confident that it has acted appropriately."
"Although we cannot comment on pending litigation, New Balance can confirm that the company plans to vigorously defend itself and its longstanding record of manafacturing excellence and surpassing the needs of athletes around the world."

Last year, in 2016, Fellaini took it upon himself to ditch the New Balance Visaro, and opted to go with the swoosh of Nike and has been wearing the Tiempo Legend line since then.
