The Toffees are on course to finish in the European places in the Premier League, while also challenging for silverware in the time-honoured cup, with Fellaini having a major part to play in their success so far with 12 goals in all competitions.

Everton host Wigan at Goodison Park in the FA Cup quarter-finals this weekend with a trip to Wembley the reward on offer. But Fellaini believes they need no extra incentive to win the game.

"Everybody has a big motivation for this game," he told the club's official website.

"There is a big chance for Everton and the players. Every day the players come in and work hard for this, so I hope we can go to the semi-finals this season.

"We have a good team and good players. Now the most important thing is Saturday and I hope every supporter can help the team to win the game.

"I have played here five years and I have won nothing, so I hope this season we can win a trophy. When you play football, you want to win something and I hope we can this season."

On a personal level, the Belgium international is convinced he can have an even greater influence on the Blues' hunt for their first major trophy in 18 years, despite missing out through injury in the previous round.

"I missed the (Oldham) game because I had pain in my ankle but now it is much better," the midfielder said.

"I scored last week but the most important thing is the three points against Reading.

"Now I am ready for Wigan in the quarter-final of the FA Cup and I hope to win the game. That's the most important thing – for the supporters, for the staff, for Everton. It's important to win because it is good for confidence."

However, the 25-year-old was quick to play down his goalscoring exploits, insisting that a victory for the team is far more important than personal triumphs.

"I'm happy and when I score the goals it is a bonus for me," he added. "I'm not a striker, I'm not a goalscorer – I'm a midfielder. It's good for me but it's important to win every game.

"I have played more up front and I'm more in the box, so I have more chances to score the goals now. I try to concentrate when I'm in the box.

"I don't have an idea of how many I can score but I will try to play well. I will try to keep going and we will see."

Fellaini has relished his opportunity to play in more attacking positions this season and insisted he has no problem with the extra attention he is receiving from opposition defenders.

"Now I play more up front so I have more contact with the defenders who will try to stop me," he said.

"Normally I play in midfield where I'm challenging the players and trying to take the ball. It's a new job for me but I will try to control myself when I'm not getting protected."
