Rio Ferdinand has slammed claims that Manchester United's title triumph was a result of Chelsea's injury problems this season.
The Old Trafford side sealed their ninth Premiership crown on Sunday when Jose Mourinho's men failed to win at Arsenal.
The Chelsea boss has frequently cited injuries as a reason behind his team's failings this season, after seeing the likes of captain John Terry, Joe Cole, Ashley Cole and Arjen Robben do long stints on the sidelines.
But the England defender claims his team has suffered equally as much and believes United are genuine champions.
"I think we're more than worthy winners," he told talkSPORT.
"We've done it with players all over the park and people have stepped up to the plate when need be.
"People talk about injuries and go overboard. Every team suffers during the season at some point.
"Our last seven games we've had some horrendous injuries. (Centre-half Nemanja) Vidic with a broken collarbone and Gary Neville, the best right-back in the world."
He added: "There's no bad way to win it. You win the trophy - it's as simple as that.
"It doesn't matter what anyone else says or reckons what's happened to their team. Everyone's going to have their opinion."
The 28-year-old, like the rest of Sir Alex Ferguson's squad, has seen joy over the title triumph tempered somewhat by United's meek exit from the Champions League last Wednesday.
AC Milan's crushing 3-0 win at the San Siro condemned the Red Devils to an eighth season without a European title, or indeed final to their name.
And Ferdinand claims an improvement in the Champions League is already top of his wish-list for next season.
"We want to win the league again and in Europe we want to improve on this season," he said.
"That's the second semi-final I've lost in and it leaves a bitter taste in the mouth.
"We've got the players where we should be picking up trophies in Europe, at least getting to the final."
