NORTH Queensland Fury boss Ian Ferguson believes David Williams merits his Socceroos call up for the Indonesia clash after a strong finish to the A-League season.
"It's absolutely fantastic news for David," Ferguson said. "It's a great honour for him to be picked to play for his country again and he deserves it with the style of play he's being producing in recent weeks.
"He brings excitement to the game, he's direct and he's fast and when he's on the ball he runs at people and goes by them like they're standing still."
Ferguson was also pleased to see new Fury signing Michael Marrone make the Socceroos squad for the March 3 match at Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium.
"It's good news for him also. I've watched his progress in the past few games with Adelaide and he's turning out to be the player I thought he was when we offered him a contract for next season," Ferguson said.
"He's had a few niggling injuries but he's stepped up and I'm looking forward to seeing him at the Fury next season."
The Fury coach also congratulated former Fury Striker Daniel McBreen on his call-up.
"It's good to see Daniel get some recognition," Ferguson added. "He's a hard worker and he found form at the right end of the season with Perth after he left the Fury but, good on him for getting his reward."
