FourFourTwo understands Western Sydney and Melbourne City are both interested in bringing the Portuguese winger back to Australia.

Ferreira spent three seasons with Adelaide United and then two with Central Coast before a move to Malaysian club PKNS in April.

The 28-year-old, who spent time in Cheslea's academy as a junior, has made more than 100 appearances in the A-League.

It is believed Wanderers coach Josep Gombau, who coached Ferriera at the Reds, is keen to reunite with the forward in Sydney's west.

Western Sydney have already signed former Reds midfielder Marcelo Carrusca, as well as teenagers Kosta Grozos and John Roberts, while the likes of Jacob Melling and Jumpei Kusukami have departed.

More changes in the Wanderers squad are expected.

Last month Ferreira was linked to joining Sydney FC as they prepare for their Asian Champions League campaign.
