Central Coast’s attacking options are set to be bolstered with import Fabio Ferreira ready to return this Saturday against Brisbane Roar after a hamstring strain.
The former Chelsea winger is excited by the prospect of teaming up with more dangerous options this season, with Connor Pain and Blake Powell joining Roy O’Donovan in attack.
The return of the Portuguese winger, who missed both the 4-0 loss at Sydney FC and a 3-3 draw at Perth Glory due to injury, gives the Mariners a dangerous look.
“I’m feeling very good,” Ferreira said. “I’ve been out for a few weeks but now I’m back.
“Hopefully it’s for me one way up for the season with no injuries.
“It’s always very hard when you’re injured. You just have to try to get back as quick as possible.
“Now I’m back I can’t wait to get back and help the team.”
The former Sporting Lisbon and Chelsea man has been impressed with the look of his side under new coach Paul Okon when watching from the sidelines.
“So far it looks very good,” Ferreira said.
“Even the result last week wasn’t good, but we have a new style.
“I’m looking forward to seeing how the season goes but I’m confident we’ll do very well.”
The 27-year-old added that his main aim is to set up goals for the likes of Powell and O’Donovan.
“I want to assist goals, keep injury free and help the team win games and have a good season for everyone,” he said.
“It’ll be very nice playing at home with our own crowd. It’ll be very important for us to start with a win at home and get the momentum going.”
