In the last week, both Gold Coast United and Brisbane Roar have responded to falling or low attendances by announcing price reductions on various tickets at their home grounds.

United have struggled to surpass crowds of 5000-7000 this season while Roar have seen a dramatic slump with a drop of around 50% on last season.

The issue of pricing has been rammed home as a key factor by fans at Roar in particular in online forums and debates. 

Fraser - who was part of an online debate about falling crowds on au.fourfourtwo.com last Friday - was quizzed on whether the rest of the A-League clubs had got their ticketing prices right and whether there was room for price drops elsewhere in the league.

"Four clubs' attendances are up and Melbourne Victory had 30,000 on the weekend, it [ticket pricing] may be something we will look at for next year but most of them got it right," he told au.fourfourtwo.com.

Since the crossover period of NRL and AFL ended in the last two weeks, A-League crowds have risen. Last weekend's average was 14,273 - up around 4000 on the season average up to round eight.

The previous round averaged 12,529 - although that was partially helped by a public holiday.

This weekend's round could be a challenge though with neither Sydney nor Melbourne at home and is set to be sturdy test of the price reductions at Suncorp and Skilled Stadiums.

To his credit, the new A-League boss made himself available to debate the issue and offer solutions. He said interaction with online media may have had a part to play in forcing the clubs' to look at pricing.

"Not sure that it did, but who knows?" he said. "We did research and it showed, but it was obvious in both places that kids' tickets needed to be priced right.

"Good football helps - like Sydney FC and Perth," added Fraser, himself a former player in Queensland and Scotland.

"And get the Roar right, if they were on track against previous years, we are almost there."
