The round of 16 in the Westfield FFA Cup sprung no major surprises however a few Member Federation clubs provided a stern test for A-League opposition.

Lions FC from Queensland put in an impressive performance but could't beat a 10 men Perth Gory side who prevailed 1-0 in extra time.

Sydney and Adelaide renewed their rivalry with the Reds coming up trumps 2-1 in extra time.

Melbourne City smashed Wellington 5-1, while Victorian NPL team Heidelburg United proved too strong for NSW NPL side Sydney United 58.

Hume City made it two from two for Victorian NPL clubs of NSW opposition when they beat Sydney Olympic 3-1.

Oakleigh Cannons were too good for the MetroStars from Adelaide winning 1-0 while the Western Sydney Wanderers put in a solid performance beating Gold Coast side Palm Beach Sharks 2-0.

However, the story of the round of 16 belonged to the Rockdale City Suns who despite losing to A-League Champions Melbourne Victory, they won a lot of new fans from around the country for pushing the Victory right till the very end unfortunately going down 3-2.
