WESTFIELD Matildas striker Kyah Simon and Melbourne Victory goalkeeper Tando Velaphi will represent football over the next three years in an Australia-wide campaign aimed at stamping out racism.
Football Federation Australia has been joined by AFL, NRL, Netball Australia and Australian Rugby Union in signing up for the National Anti-Racism Strategy.
The first phase is a public awareness campaign with the tagline: Racism - It Stops With Me. The initiative has already attracted a high level of public interest and support.
By getting on board, football as well as other sports, companies and individuals will commit to taking a public stance against racism in the community.
FFA CEO Ben Buckley was in Melbourne for the launch of the strategy on Friday, alongside head of communications Kyle Patterson, Melbourne Victory chairman Anthony Di Pietro, Victory midfielder Isaka Cernak and football's ambassador Simon.
The campaign was unveiled by Federal Race Discrimination Commissioner Dr Helen Szoke with Attorney-General Nicola Roxon and the Minister for Multicultural Affairs, Senator Kate Lundy.
