FOOTBALL Federation Australia are willing to consider moving Adelaide United's A-League fixtures around the club's Champions League semi-final ties.
The FFA today met with the club to discuss the options available.
Adelaide United is due to meet Uzbekistani team, Bunyodkor, in Adelaide on 8 October and to play the return match in Tashkent on 22 October in the semi-finals of the Champions League.
"Everyone in the football family is delighted with Adelaide's achievement in getting this far and we all want to see them go on with it," said FFA CEO Ben Buckley.
"I am sure all football fans throughout Australia join with me in congratulating Aurelio Vidmar and the players for their efforts."
Buckley confirmed that FFA will consider the options put forward by Adelaide and consult with other relevant stakeholders on the options.
"We indicated earlier in the week that we would consider any request from Adelaide to the extent possible."
Buckley also said that FFA has offered its experience and expertise in dealing with the issues involved in planning an away trip to a location such as Tashkent, as well as maintaining optimum fitness through the match schedule.
"The Qantas Socceroos were in Tashkent less than two weeks ago and Pim Verbeek, the medical and fitness staff and team operations are well aware of the conditions in Tashkent," he added.
Buckley said the medical and fitness staff also deal daily with high performance athletes and keeping them fresh for their club games as well as international games.
"We have offered Sam Ciccarello and Aurelio Vidmar the advice and input of Pim and his staff so Adelaide can do as well as possible," said Buckley.
"What's good for Adelaide is good for the Hyundai A-League and for football overall."
If Adelaide win the semi-final series, they will play another home-and-away series on 5 and 12 November to decide the Asian Champions for 2008 and stand to share in prizemoney of US$1.0 million.
A decision will be made on the options put forward by Adelaide United FC by the middle of next week.
