Football Federation of Australia (FFA) announced the change on Wednesday following confirmation that the Socceroos' trip to Jakarta would be set down for January 28 next year after originally being scheduled for January 18.

The finals series was meant to kick off on Friday January 30 with the first leg of the two-legged semi-finals but that has now been pushed back until Friday February 6.

FFA has also announced two further changes to the home and away fixture following Adelaide United's stunning progression to the Asian Champions League final.

Last week FFA announced a new date for the Round 11 match between Central Coast and Adelaide with this match moving from Saturday November 8 to Saturday November 15 to give the Reds the best possible preparation for the second leg of the Asian Champions' League final on their home turf on Wednesday November 12.

Adelaide has also qualified for the 2008 FIFA World Club Championship, as a result of reaching the Asian Champions' League final - which will be played in Japan from December 11 to 21.

The Reds won the right to participate in the prestigious club tournament, regardless of the outcome of the final against Japanese club Gamba Osaka as Japan is already guaranteed a representative in that tournament as the host nation and is not allowed a second team in the competition.

As a result Adelaide's Round 15 trip to Melbourne has been moved from Friday December 12 to Tuesday January 6 while the round 16 home game against Queensland has been moved from Saturday December 20 to Wednesday January 14.

For Melbourne it means its already lop-sided fixture in terms of away and home matches is further skewed with the Victory to now play five of its next six matches away from home which will be followed by five of its last six matches at home.

Victory chief executive Geoff Miles said on Wednesday that while the switch of the Adelaide game was far from ideal, the club understood the need for the game to be rescheduled.

"Our match against Adelaide will now be played in the midst of the summer school holidays, at an earlier time of 7:30pm, to ensure all Victory members and supporters have the best chance of seeing one of this season’s biggest matches," he said.

"It's a unique situation but we hope that our members, supporters, corporate partners and sponsors understand FFA's decision and will be able to attend what should be an exciting contest on January 6."

Miles also reminded fans that all tickets already purchased for the original date of December 12 are still valid for the re-scheduled date on January 6.
