FOOTBALL Federation Australia is bracing for a multi-million dollar loss if Iraq's ban is upheld later this week.
The FFA stands to lose $3 million in ticket sales if Sunday's World Cup qualifier in Brisbane is cancelled because of FIFA's ban on Iraq.
Officials today confirmed they would refund all tickets in the event of a cancellation.
However the loss should be offset by savings made in not having to fly to the Socceroos squad and officials to the Middle East for the return leg of the tie.
And cancellation also improves Australia's chances of qualifying for the next phase of the World Cup qualifying process which will open up new revenue streams for the FFA.
But the FFA still wants the Suncorp game to go ahead this weekend.
A statement from the FFA added: "[The FFA] is hopeful of a resolution to the issue regarding the World Cup qualifying match against Iraq, scheduled to be played on Sunday at Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium.
"FIFA has given the Iraq Government until midnight Thursday 29 May to resolve the issue with the Iraqi Football Association to FIFA's satisfaction.
"FFA also confirms that, if the World Cup qualifying match does not proceed on Sunday, then a full refund will be available to all who have purchased tickets.
"FFA will make a further announcement on the issue once the outcome is known."
