Two west Sydney bids are being studied by the FFA as franchises battle to join Gold Coast United in Australia's professional league.

Buckley told the Parramatta Advertiser: "I think if the proposal was right and a team was ready to go in season five (2009-10), then that is something that could be reviewed.

"Our goal is to work at least towards season six (2010-11) in entry and if all the conditions and factors were right, then we wouldn't rule out season five."

Little is known about the western Sydney bids at this stage but Buckley has hinted that those behind the bids are anything but football novices.

He said: "What I can say is that they are people with a lot of experience in football and in the business of football.

"We intend to work with them closely over the next few months to get them into a more advanced stage.

"We don't have a specific location in mind.

"I think all locations need to be looked at and a feasibility study on each needs to be undertaken.

"We're very open-minded to whether it's located in the Penrith region, the Blacktown region, Parramatta region, Campbelltown region. Those areas all come into contention as we assess the bid."
