Yesterday there had been speculation that Postecoglou, whose family live in Melbourne, could be tempted to Victory on a long-term deal, with current coach Ernie Merrick to be sacked.

According to The Courier Mail the FFA are set to offer Postecoglou a new four-year deal to keep him in Brisbane when they take over the running of the club next week.

The FFA realise hopes of finding new investors for the Roar would be boosted by retaining Premiership-winning Postecoglou at the helm.

"After the grand final we will sit down with Ange to ensure his long-term future is with Brisbane Roar," an FFA spokesman told The Courier Mail.

"We've already opened talks with him and he's indicated that he wants to stay to continue the work he's done in turning Brisbane into the A-League's most dominant team.

“Brisbane have started something that could lead to them becoming the most successful club in Australian history and Ange is the key reason for that."

Postecoglou added he had not been approached by Victory.

"I haven't spoken to anyone and I wouldn't speak to anyone until after the grand final," he said.

"I want to stay here that's my preference. True, the Victory are a big club, but I feel I can do the same thing here with the Roar.

"But at the moment nothing is going to take my focus off the final."
