A decade ago Australia hosted the 'best Olympic Games ever' and it was thanks to the enduring volunteer culture in Australia, highlighted by the 50,000 plus workforce who set the new international standards at the Sydney 2000 Olympics that helped to make this possible - now, Australia is bidding to bring the FIFA World Cup to Australia in 2022 and is putting the call out to all who maybe interested in volunteering.

The volunteer initiative enables all Australians to express their interest in becoming a volunteer for the 2022 FIFA World Cup should Australia be successful in winning hosting rights.

"We want to hear from you. This is a practical way we can demonstrate to FIFA that as a nation we would welcome and support a FIFA World Cup in Australia in 2022," said Football Federation Australia CEO, Ben Buckley.

"Just like playing international football on the field, the competition off the field in the world of bidding is fierce - with the prize to host the greatest show on earth, the FIFA World Cup, up for grabs.

"Building on the Sydney 2000 Olympics volunteer program success, this is our chance to show FIFA that we will have the same enthusiastic involvement for an Australian FIFA World Cup. We have a long standing volunteer culture entrenched in our football community and beyond," he said.

Expressions of interest in volunteering in the areas of Accreditation, Administration, Welcome and Information Services, Information Technology and Telecommunication, Logistic Services, Media, Protocol Services, Spectator Services, Ticketing, Transportation, Hospitality Services, Volunteer Management, Language Support are available.
