FIFA President Gianni Infantino has postponed Monday’s visit to Australia to attend funeral services in Brazil for those lost in this week's Colombian plane crash.
Mr Infantino, who had planned to attend the FIFA Under 20 Women’s World Cup Final in Port Moresby this weekend, had accepted an invitation from FFA Chairman Steven Lowy to make a short visit to Australia.
Mr Lowy spoke with Mr Infantino last night and asked the FIFA President to personally convey the condolences of the Australian football community to those affected in Brazil.
The date for Mr Infantino's rescheduled visit to Australia will be announced at a later date, the FFA said.
Players and officials from the Chapecoense club in Brazil, along with members of the media, were on their way to compete in the first leg of the South American Cup when the plane they were travelling in crashed near Medellin in Colombia.
Only five of the 81 passengers survived.
