The Socceroos have received a massive boost ahead of their World Cup play-off with Honduras after FIFA wiped the suspensions hanging over the heads of several stars.
After Honduras confirmed FIFA had wiped their yellow cards on Saturday, questions were raised as to why only the Central American nation had received that luxury.
However, Football Federation Australia found out on Monday that they would also have the Socceroos' yellow cards wiped for the tie.
That means Tom Rogic, Mile Jedinak, Tomi Juric, Massimo Luongo, Josh Risdon, Ryan McGowan, Jackson Irvine and Milos Degenek will now not have the high chance suspension lingering over their heads.
However, Mark Milligan and Mathew Leckie are still suspended for the first leg in San Pedro Sula.
FFA CEO David Gallop welcomed the decision of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee
“This decision is a victory for Fair Play,” said Gallop
“We thank FIFA for considering this exceptional circumstance and making their decision.
“This decision will allow both teams to field their best players, on even terms, for these extremely important play-off matches which is what all football fans want to see,” concluded Gallop.
