A headed brace to Andy Keogh (24', 31') and second-half goals to Diego Castro (51') and Chris Ikonomidis (65') had the Nix well and truly on the ropes before retiring striker Brendon Santalab struck in the 83rd minute to cap the WA outfit's Premiers Plate winning campaign.

The result, in the last game of the regular season, bumped the under strength Nix down to sixth on the A-League table, setting up a clash with third placed Melbourne Victory at AAMI Park on Friday.

The other elimination final will now pit hosts Adelaide United (4th) against Melbourne City (5th) at Coopers Stadium on Sunday.

Neither Phoenix nor Victory have been able to wrestle the upperhand this season playing out three draws - two at AAMI Park (1-1, 3-3) and, most recently a 1-1 stalemate in Auckland. Much will depend on how the Nix can bounce back from tonight's mauling.

Meanwhile City's only match at Coopers Stadium this season resulted in a 2-0 win over the Reds but since then there's been nothing to separate the teams.

In round 18 the sides shared the points with a 1-1 draw followed by a goalless clash in the third last round of the season.

The lowest ranked winner of the elimination finals will travel to Perth on May 10 to take on the Premiers Plate winners in the first semi, while runners-up Sydney FC will host the highest ranked winner on May 12.

Finals Series matches will be broadcast live on FOX SPORTS, 10 Bold, Sky Sport NZ and MyFootball Live App, Live Fast and Data Free for Telstra mobile customers.
