Middlesbrough have been hit with a £20,000 fine with a further £30,000 suspended as punishment for finishing the last Barclays Premier League season with the worst disciplinary record.
Gareth Southgate's men racked up 85 yellow cards and two reds over the course of their 38 league games, and the Football Association have acted after a series of regulatory commission hearings.
Boro, whose worst individual offender last year, George Boateng, totalled nine yellow cards, declined to comment on the fine.
Burnley were fined £10,000 with a further £10,000 suspended, while League Two Darlington were fined £3,000 with a further £5,000 suspended. Macclesfield received a suspended £3,000 fine.
