Fiorentina wrapped up their Serie A campaign in emphatic style with a five-star 5-1 performance against Sampdoria at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
A brace from Reginaldo Ferreira added to goals from Adrian Mutu, Riccardo Montolivo and Giampaolo Pazzini sent the Viola to a final day frenzy that capped a hugely successful campaign.
The only goal for the visitors came through Fabio Quagliarella, but it proved to be only a consolation as Walter Novellino's Samp ended the season in ninth.
On the other hand, opposite number Cesare Prandelli's side were widely backed to struggle this term after their massive 15-point deduction at the start of the season due to the match fixing scandal.
However, Prandelli managed to work wonders as the Florence club managed to end in sixth place and secure a UEFA Cup place for next year.
Third-place and the Champions League would have been their reward without the deduction.
And without regulars Luca Toni, Marco Donadel, Alessandro Potenza and Mario Santana in his starting line-up, the coach opted to play with several of his up and coming youngsters, who put in an impressive performance from the start.
After an attacking start though, it was the more seasoned Mutu who fired them in front after just five minutes.
A pacy run down the left flank by Montolivo, saw him play a neat low cross to the Romanian, who brushed off Pietro Accardi, before unleashing a powerful strike from inside the penalty area beyond a helpless Luca Castellazzi in the Samp goal.
More pressure from the hosts led to Fabio Liverani coming close with a long range strike, before Mutu almost made it two latching onto a Pazzini rebound shot, fumbled by Castellazzi, which went narrowly wide.
At the other end the visitors created their first chance when Gennaro Delvecchio dispossessed Manuel Pasqual and teed up Quagliarella, who failed to keep his volley down, while Manuele Blasi tried to beat the Samp custodian, with another 30-yard effort, which was easily held.
The lead was doubled in the 37th minute, when Fabio Liverani delivered a floating cross to Montolivo, who finished powerfully with his cross-goal shot from eight yards.
The visitors however managed to pull one back five minutes before half time, Quagliarella's 20-yard strike hardly giving Sebastien Frey a chance as the home team managed to hold out until the break.
Four minutes into the second half, Mutu turned provider with a deft through-ball that was slotted home by Pazzini from close-range as the Viola all but sealed the win.
Shortly before the hour mark, the Romania international was replaced by Reginaldo, who proved to be equally impressive.
In the 72nd minute, the first of the Brazilian's goals arrived when he controlled a long ball in the penalty area and poked the ball home before hitting home Fiorentina's fifth in injury time - a clever flick allowing him to see off Accardi, before finishing powerfully for his second.
