TORONTO FC suffered their first home defeat of the season in emphatic style as they lost 4-1 to the New York Red Bulls.
Former Barcelona defender Rafael Marquez scored his first goal for the visitors after 35 minutes to open the scoring before Nane Joseph put through his own net just before the break.
Dwayne De Rosario pulled a goal back four minutes after the interval but the Reds were reduced to 10-men on the hour when Nana Attakora-Gyan kept out Thierry Henry's goal-bound shot with his hand.
Attakora-Gyan's actions denied Henry his first goal for the Red Bulls but the game was safe as Juan Pablo Angel stroked home the resultant penalty before Carl Robinson added a fourth.
The Red Bulls' win strengthened their hold on second place in the Eastern Conference with Toronto eight points adrift in third.
Western Conference leaders the Los Angeles Galaxy were beaten 1-0 at the San Jose Earthquakes.
Chris Wondolowski's fourth-minute goal was enough to secure victory for the Earthquakes who moved up to fourth in the division.
