SOCCEROO Rhys Williams is delighted his frustrating run on the sidelines with injury is over and now he's desperate to help Middlesbrough push for promotion.
The 21-year-old Perth-born utility made his comeback from a pelvic injury as a substitute in the weekend's 1-0 loss at Cardiff City, having not played since early January.
And the Aussie admitted he's happy to be injury-free again but revealed he wants to get Boro back in the promotion race after slipping down to tenth.
"It's obviously good to be back, it's not good to lose for our promotion push but I'm glad to be back in," Williams told BBC Tees after the loss at Cardiff.
"I just need to get myself fitter now and hopefully I'll be ready for the starting eleven again."
Williams revealed he also has added incentive to get back in the first-eleven where he was a regular prior to his injury.
"Fingers crossed, I've got a few family across from Australia as well, so that'd be nice," he said.
"I feel good, I played half an hour and I feel better than I thought I would. Hopefully with an intense week of training I'll be in the frame for a start."
The loss at fellow promotion challengers Cardiff was a blow to Boro's top flight push, especially considering they had the better chances in the match, but Williams remains hopeful.
he added: "There's still ten or eleven games to go, so we've got a long way and a lot of points in it. And we've seen this season anything can happen in this league.
"We just need to string some results together and we'll be pushing again."
