A week after Melbourne Victory’s marquee signing of Keisuke Honda, their A-League rivals will be busy looking to strengthen their own squads. Here are five potential free agents that would help any A-League side challenge for the dunny seat.
Samuel Eto’o

The former Cameroon captain recently mutually terminated his contract with Turkish side Konyaspor, and at 37 years of age, retirement looks likely for the striker. However, Eto’o is reportedly interested in ending his career in the A-League and with Sydney FC losing former marquee striker Bobo to Alanyaspor, there could be a possibility of the former Barcelona star moving to the Sky Blues. While Eto’o is getting on in his career, he still managed to net 45 goals during his time in Turkey and could still find himself as a prolific marksman in the A-League.
Nedum Onuoha

The Championship veteran was tipped for greatness in his early years at Manchester City, before moving to Queens Park Rangers where he has spent the last 6 and a half years. Now without a club, the Nigerian born central defender has been linked to a variety of Championship sides including Hull City however, A-League sides should be looking at the former QPR captain to bolster their defence. Having amassed 371 appearances in all competitions over his 14-year career his experience would be invaluable to the A-League.
