The Sydney Morning Herald report that the first offer came in just 33 minutes into Saturday's match.

The calls were apparently in response to Sainsbury's bright start against Les Bleus at the Kazan Arena, which included a number of sharp interceptions to thwart France's richly-talented front line.

"I’ve never experienced it before and I’ve done 26 transfers overseas," said his agent, Tony Rallis.

He said that Sainsbury has two enquiries from English clubs and three from other European clubs.

Sainsbury is currently contracted to Chinese Super League club Jiangsu Suning, but since arriving in 2016 he has spent two loan spells in Europe, first with Serie A giants Inter Milan and second with Grasshoppers Zurich in Switzerland.

The 26 year-old is set on a quick return to the continent in the next transfer window, which opens in two weeks.

However, Rallis said that any deal will wait until Australia's involvement in the World Cup is over. "Trent is very focused on the national team", he added.

The Perth-born centre back began his senior career with Central Coast Mariners, before a first foray to Europe in the shape of two seasons at Dutch Eredivie outfit PEC Zwolle.

He holds both an Australian and UK passport.
