The Brazilian star's contract with AC Milan expired at the end of June, leaving the 31-year-old as a free agent for the first time in his career.

He is still recovering from a serious left knee injury, but once he is back in shape, Flamengo are ready to snap him up.

"We have talked to Ronaldo's agent," Fla president Marcia Braga said to globoesporte.com. "Once he has recovered and ready to play we are going to sit and discuss his contract."

Ronaldo has not played since February, and is rehabilitating in Brazil under the watch of physio Bruno Mazziotti and Brazil and Flamengo doctor Jose Luiz Runco.
