The Federation released photo-modeling of the facility in Riverstone, western Sydney, which should open by 2011.

Accommodation, administration, social and full training facilities will be part of the plan as well as a boutique stadium for training and youth games and Futsal grounds. A total of 15 football pitches is the figure they've quoted.

There will also be a private football college based there, according to the plans.

And the state body is confident an upgraded rail line will be built in time to service the new base which is around 12 minutes drive from its current base at Parklea.

The lucrative Asian market is one area the Fed is keen to explore with J-League clubs in particular already being notified of the facility which should provide an ideal pre-season base well away from the city.

Furthermore, with a World Cup and perhaps Asian Cup in the offing over the next decade or two, this base should strengthen Australia's chances.

With western Sydney being a major sporting battleground in the future - the AFL is planning a second team in Sydney as is the A-League - this facility keeps football on the front foot in the west.

However, it's understood that the base may also be open to other sports to utilise its facilities.
