Soccer pools Cup – State League
Second Round
Floreat Athena vs. Morley-Windmills
League leaders Floreat Athena will be looking to bring their impressive form in the Football West Premier League to the Soccer Pools Cup stage on Saturday when they take on solid Division one outfit Morley Windmills at E & D Litis Stadium for a place in the quarter finals of the 2007 Soccer Pools Cup.
Floreat were denied a 100% winning start to the season last weekend when a late Stirling Lions equalizer ended the match in a 2-2 draw; however, it was their only blemish in what has been a tremendous start to the 2007 season. In the opening round of the Cup, Athena accounted for Wanneroo City 5-2 with Stefan Smiljanic scoring a hat-trick. Strikers Jerry Karpeh and Branimir Mikulic have been lethal in attack and with the talent of Josip Magdic and Adam Bachiller in midfield; Floreat will be poised to exploit the visitors defence.
Morley-Windmills received a bye in the first round and will be eagerly anticipating the challenge against the Premier League heavyweights. Former Perth Glory player Brad Hassell has injected a sense of optimism at Wotton Reserve; the Windmills are un-beaten in their last six matches with their only loss coming in round one against Canning City (2-1). Farrell Hedges has been a fantastic acquisition to the club scoring eight goals so far this season and he sits second on the Division One Golden Boot table. With Hedges in scoring form plus valuable additions in Scott McIlroy and Damian Todorovic, this contest may not be the boil over everyone thinks.
The game commences at 3.00pm.

Armadale vs. Dianella White Eagles
Premier League side Armadale host Division One leaders Dianella White Eagles in round two of the Soccer Pools Cup on Saturday, 2 June at Alfred Skeet Oval.
Dianella’s early season form has been nothing short of sensational. The White Eagles are surprise leaders of Division One after seven rounds, having won six of their seven outings so far, led by veteran coach Jimmy Pearson. The visitors, who received a bye into the second round of this competition, have plenty of attacking power, having scored 30 goals in the league so far, while conceding just nine. Striker Jon Greenwood has been causing nightmares for defenders in Division One and it will be interesting to see what he can manage against Premier League opposition.
Despite sitting in 11th position in the Premier League, Armadale boast one of the league’s best defenses. The south-eastern suburbs side has conceded only twelve goals in their seven games, but due to scoring just one goal all season in the Premier League, Armadale have managed just three draws in those matches.
Billy Russell’s side will be looking for Ryan Pearson and Marlon Ramirez to provide life up front, while they will look to Dusan Macura to control the game from midfield. Star defender Daryl Platten will be handed the job of leading Armadale’s defense against the White Eagles’ potent attackers.

Stirling Lions vs. South West Phoenix
The Second Round of the Soccer Pools Cup sees State Premier League heavyweights Stirling Lions welcome Division One side South West Phoenix to Macedonia Park on Saturday.
The match will be both sides first in the competition to date, with each receiving a bye in the first round in April.
Stirling have been in impressive form the in Premier League as they remain only one of two teams unbeaten after seven completed rounds, currently sitting in fifth position. David Dugdale has been banging them in left right and centre, and the Lions will also be able to call upon new signing Vas Kalogeracos in a potent forward line setup.
South West Phoenix will have to pull off one of the upsets of the year to overcome the Lions, but with the magic of Cup football anything can happen. Phoenix, who are currently languishing in seventh position in Division One, will be looking to the experience of local stalwart Lawrence Endersby to batten the hatches in the midfield.
The match kicks off at 3.00pm at Stirling Lion’s Macedonia Park.

Soccer Pools Cup – Amateur League
Second Round
Subiaco United vs. Fremantle United
Subiaco United host League leaders Fremantle United in round two of the Amateur Soccer Pools Cup on Sunday, 3 June at Rosalie Park. The Group A rivals were drawn together in what will prove to be a tricky match-up for favourites Fremantle United.
Fremantle have won all seven of their League games so far, seeing them top of the Amateur Premier League after almost a third of the season. United progressed through to the second round of competition with a tough 4-3 win over Joondalup United in round one.
The visitors boast large amounts of experience across the park. Jason Smith, a player with large amounts of experience in the Semi-Professional Premier League, runs the show from midfield while former Perth Soccer Club striker David Onoforo leads the attacking line.
Inconsistency has plagued Subiaco United all season, and sees them sit fourth-last on the Premier League table. The home side received a major confidence boost last weekend with a 4-0 home win against UWA. Before that match, United’s form had been nothing short of poor. The previous weekend Subiaco were beaten 2-0 by Maccabi Soccer Club and importantly were destroyed 8-0 by Fremantle in round four. Subiaco progressed to the second round of the competition via a forfeit by Carlisle Soccer Club.
The match will be played on Sunday at Rosalie Park with the first team match commencing at 3.00pm.
