STATE PREMIER LEAGUE - ROUND 3 MATCH OF THE WEEK

By Chris Correia

Perth SC v Floreat Athena - Dorrien Gardens - 3.00pm Saturday

Match highlights available on www.footballwest.tv from Monday afternoon

This weekend's Match of the Week will be a rematch of the 2010 Football West Charity Shield when Perth SC takes on Floreat Athena at BGC Stadium Dorrien Gardens. Perth was annihilated at home that afternoon 7-0 after fielding an undermanned side as they prepared for Round One of the State Premier League the following weekend. Last weekend saw Perth jump to equal first on the table with a 3-1 win over Sorrento at Percy Doyle Reserve. Floreat Athena hosted last season's Runners-Up Western Knights, but they were defeated 2-1 by the Mosman Park-based club and now sit fifth on the league table.

Floreat will be without defender Julian Madaschi, after his rash challenge on reigning Gold Medal winner David Micevski was deemed worthy of a straight red card and five-match ban. Perth coach Graham Normanton was particularly disappointed with how his side began last week's match against Sorrento so Perth will no doubt be looking to make an impact from right from kick-off.

Stirling Lions v Balcatta - Macedonia Park - 3.00pm Saturday

Match highlights available on www.footballwest.tv from Monday afternoon

Two of the Premier League's undefeated teams in 2010 will lock horns on Easter Saturday at Macedonia Park in a local blockbuster as Stirling Lions host top-of-the-table Balcatta. The Lions grabbed a point from last Sunday's encounter with Armadale, while Balcatta grabbed the headlines with a 5-3 win over Inglewood United. The star from that match was Ashley Rosindale who scored a remarkable four goals, taking his season tally to five in just two matches. Rosindale took out the 2009 Division One Player of the Year award and was a standout for Balcatta in their run to the knockout stages of the Bam Creative Night Series. Stirling coach Mick Lyons will have his hands full trying to have his defenders contain the Balcatta star and will need his new imports to stand up and deliver in this weekend's Feature Match. The Lions sit in fourth place and will be looking to continue their great start to the season in contrast to 2009.

STATE DIVISION ONE - ROUND 1 MATCH OF THE WEEK

Forresfield United v Bayswater CIty - Hartfield Park - 3.00pm Saturday

Round One of the State Division One kicks off this weekend with two of last season's top five teams going head-to-head at Hartfield Park. A young Forrestfield United side finished last season in fourth place under John Hunter while Mauro Marchione's Bayswater City finished in fifth. The start to 2010 has been good for City as they took out the Division One Night Series Final last weekend against Ashfield. It was a 6-0 thrashing thanks to a Gustavo Marulanda hat-trick and brace from Kailo Karpeh. Forresfield were eliminated in the Semi Finals by Ashfield but will be looking to take the points when it counts in the season proper. Get down to see some young talent on show at Hartfield Park this Easter Saturday in the Match of the Week for Round One as both sides try to get their quest for promotion to the best possible start.
