The pre-season Series was launched at Perth Soccer Club this week, and having been training since early December, the players are raring to go.

The teams will divide into two groups of six for a round robin stage, with the top two in each group going on to the semifinals. In Group I will be Armadale, Cockburn City, Floreat Athena, Fremantle Spirit, Sorrento and Premier League newcomers Mandurah City.

In Group II, defending champions Perth will take on ECU Joondalup, Inglewood United, Stirling Lions, Swan IC and the Western Knights.

Perth captain Rob Puca said all the players were looking forward to getting on the pitch after a big pre-season.

"The Night Series gives you a fantastic chance to be adventurous, try a few things and play some really attractive football," he said.

"The round robin format allows you to make a few mistakes, take a few chances and entertain the crowds. It'd be great to see a big crowd for the kick-off on Friday night - and it'd be even better to win the Series again!"

Friday night's match-ups see Stirling play ECU Joondalup at 6.30pm, followed by Perth and the Western Knights at 8.30pm. Gates at the Perth Soccer Club open at 5.30pm.

It will all culminate in the Final, to be held at the Litis Stadium on March 29. The McInerney Ford Night Series then gives way to the Football West State League - a feast of football in the coming months for fans and players alike!
