APB STATE PREMIER LEAGUE - ROUND 12 MATCH OF THE WEEK

Inglewood United v Floreat Athena - E&D Litis Stadium - 3.00pm Saturday

Match highlights available on www.footballwest.tv from Monday afternoon

Tune into Heritage 107.3FM from 2.30pm for the live broadcast with host Bob Figg

Round 12 of the APB State Premier League will see all teams play each other again in the reverse fixture of last weekend. Inglewood United will be at home to Floreat Athena at 6PR Stadium following Round 11's clash ending up with a convincing 3-0 victory to Floreat. The win kept Athena third on the table with United remaining in 11th place, just four points clear of the relegation spot occupied by Cockburn City.

Goals from Daniel Neiderberger, Branimir Mikulic and Jason Barrera was enough to grab victory over Inglewood, in a match where United's coach Shane Pryce brought himself on as a second-half substitute and Floreat coach Ante Kovacevic started. Inglewood didn't have a shot on goal until the 67th minute last week through Aaron Colli and will need a vastly-improved performance to be competitive at their home ground and move away from the foot of the table.

APB STATE PREMIER LEAGUE - ROUND 12 FEATURE MATCH

Mandurah City v Sorrento - Hyundai Stadium - 3.00pm Saturday

Match highlights available on www.footballwest.tv from Monday afternoon

Last week's clash between Sorrento and Mandurah City had plenty of last-minute drama, but this time around the fixture will be at City's home ground Hyundai Stadium. Sorrento was victorious 2-1 with an injury-time penalty awarded to the Gulls for Adam Hayton to seal the win.

A penalty was awarded much to the surprise of either side but Hayton held his nerve and slotted past Dolphins goalkeeper Phil Straker to secure the win despite only having nine men on the field. Kris Dennis and James Morgan were both sent off for Sorrento and will miss this week, but the Gulls were able to soldier on and secure another remarkable victory. Sorrento is now in fourth place on the table, just two points behind Floreat Athena. Mandurah's loss kept them towards the bottom of the table, but a victory on home soul could potentially elevate Stuart Young's side into the top seven and back in contention for a finals position.

SMARTER THAN SMOKING WOMEN'S PREMIER LEAGUE - ROUND 2 FEATURE MATCH

Subiaco AFC v Beckenham Angels - Rosalie Park - 3.00pm Sunday
By Ann Odong

In Round 6 of the Smarter than Smoking Women's Premier League, Subiaco AFC hosts the Beckenham Angels in the pick of the action.  Despite going down to the Northern Redbacks in Round 5, the young squad of Subiaco AFC have put in solid performances recently including a 1-1 draw with joint title favourites East Fremantle.  Midfielder Jen Chantler has been in superb form not only controlling the midfield with Gabby Walker-Ortega and Brittany Dyer-Smith, but also getting on the scoreboard.  The Lions will be looking for a big contribution from the more experienced Sonja Felderhof, Brooke Tillemans and Tash Kirton if they are to hold and overcome the Angels.

Prior to the Cup Round, the Beckenham Angels had been in indifferent form with consecutive losses to East Fremantle and UWA-Nedlands.  However, an excellent Cup performance over their neighbours could just be the catalyst for their season. Beckenham were impressive last weekend with their defence led by Penny Tanner-Hoath and Kirby Larsen holding out against some stiff competition.  For the Angels to take their first League points in three rounds their attacking force of Lizzie Courtley, Danielle Jeans, Melissa Spillman and Elise Cunningham will need to fire again.  The last time these two sides met was in Round 11 of 2009 where the Angels stole points at the visitors home ground in a tight 2 - 1 win.  Considering their form going in, a similar contest could be on the cards.
