It's been a tough few years for the former Socceroos left-back, once an ever-present at the beginning of Ange Postecoglou's national regeneration.

But Davidson has achieved one feat very few Socceroos have this season, and claimed a European league title with Slovenian powerhouse Olimpija Ljubljana.

Davidson had an instant impact upon joining the club in January, making 11 appearances on loan from Croatian club Rejika.

After he was unable to break into West Brom, nor maintain a place in the first team at then-Championship side Huddersfield Town, Davidson was farmed out to another mixed spell at Eredivisie side Groningen.

His inability to settle in the Netherlands eventually cost him his Socceroos place for the likes of Aziz Behich, Alex Gersbach and James Meredith.

But while Davidson won't make a second successive World Cup, he can finish this season with a double, with Olimpija set to take on NK Aluminij in the Slovenian Cup final.
