The striker scored 32 goals for Atletico last season to earn them a spot in the Champions League and has been linked with a move to Barcelona.

Forlan, who moved to Atletico from Villarreal in 2007, insists talk of a move is no more than a rumour at present, but admits the situation is liable to change.

He said: "They're just rumours. They've increased even more because of what happened at the end of the season, but I'm calm.

"Now I'm focused on the national team and then the holidays. To be honest, I don't think about it. My friends tell me what's being reported.

"I'm happy in Madrid and at Atletico. I love the city and I'm very comfortable. I have a lot of friends and I'm at a big club. If an offer comes, we'll see, but they're just rumours so far.

"If the club finds the offer to their liking and it's good for me too, we'll analyse it."

The former Manchester United striker is aiming to continue his red hot form in front of goal for Uruguay in their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Brazil on Saturday in Montevideo and Venezuela four days later in Puerto Ordaz.

Forlan said: "I love scoring and I love scoring as many goals I can, but Uruguay has great forwards nowadays and they have a great ability to score.

"I don't feel under more pressure because I was the top scorer in Spain. It's always the same task. I feel the same responsibility my team-mates here feel. The responsibility is taking Uruguay to the World Cup.

"I'm looking forward to playing in such an important match as the one we're playing at home against Brazil. We have one goal that is yet to be achieved.

"I've achieved a very nice personal goal, but I am both a football player and an Uruguayan and I dream of going to the World Cup."

Forlan is especially looking forward to the showdown with the five-time world champions.

"Brazil or Argentina are the matches that, when you're a child, you want to go to the stadium to watch. As a player, the feeling is even greater," he said.

"We have to beat Brazil anyhow. Recently Uruguay have played better and deserved to win, but we haven't been able to clinch the three points against them. No matter how, we must beat them."
