The 34-year-old right-back has joined on a free transfer and signed a deal until the end of the 2016-17 season where Dinamo will compete in Russia’s second tier after relegation last term.

Wilkshire, who has 80 Socceroos caps, spent almost six years at Dinamo from 2008 to 2014, making more than 150 appearances for the club.

“I’m home. I’m incredibly happy to be back for Dinamo and thank the leadership group for the invitation,” Wilkshire said.

“If I had my way, I would never have left the club and always wanted to re-enter the field in a blue and white shirt. Now I can’t wait for this moment.”

Wilkshire said he’s fully fit having been training with Terek Grozny up until his release, despite not playing once this season.

He added: “Dinamo fans are always incredibly warm towards me, including when I came to the Arena Khimki with Terek last season.

“These feelings are mutual, I will be very glad to play for fans of the blue and white, to hear them chant ‘Luke! Luke! Luke!’”

Wilkshire added he was confident his new club could re-gain their top status after finishing 15th in the Premier League last term.

“I don’t doubt that the team will be back in the Premier League,” he said.

“I hope I establish my game, in such a way that I get offered an extension to the agreement.”
