Crook sadly passed away in December 2008, while on tour with the Joeys in the US.

His family have now formed The Martyn Crook Foundation which aims to ensure that each and every young player with potential is given every opportunity to reach greater heights in our game, and not be disenfranchised from it due to their race, gender or lack of financial backing.

The foundation aims to reach out to indigenous Australians, young players arriving in Australia as refugees, and those young players who are financially disadvantaged, developing initiatives to promote their greater inclusion in the football family.

To launch the foundation an event is taking place to raise initial funds. An African Safari will be a celebration of the Socceroos' participation in the 2010 World Cup and will take place at the Adelaide Hilton on Friday May 21.

Tickets are $150 each which includes pre-dinner drinks and canapés, three course dinner, beer, wine and soft drink. The night is being hosted by Fox Sports' Adam Peacock.

The foundation have been delighted by the response it has received from many former Socceroo legends and will be making an announcement shortly as to who will be attending.

Entertainment on the night will include eminent Tenor Brian Gilbertson accompanied by Soprano Kaylene Graham, unusualist Raymond Crowe and 2008 Australian Idol Wes Carr.
