BILLED AS… The night Queensland's Suncorp hoodoo would finally be broken, fueled by a dash of fierce state of origin rivalry.
IN REALITY… Even better than most of us expected, this was a full-blooded affair that was rollicking entertainment from the first whistle to the last. A good crowd too lapped up the hi-powered footy – except the loss bit. Again.
THE GOOD… Where do you start? Clint Bolton is officially King Clint once again. Mark Rudan was a colossus in the second half and Patrick finished with aplomb. In fact, there wasn't a bad player on the FC side as they rose to the challenge. Matt McKay and Craig Moore were their usual enterprising and physically imposing for Roar.
THE BAD… Queensland's finishing. Although to be fair, Bolton and his defence had a night to remember.
THE UGLY… Zadkovich's tackling early on. On another night he may've been off before the break... then again, it was that sort of occasion.
THEY SAID WHAT… Craig Moore: "They had one chance and they took it. We've got a great bunch of boys, we continued to press but tonight wasn't our night."
Mark Milligan: "It's been a tough four weeks and we didn't play the prettiest football but I tell you what, the boys worked hard. Coming up to Queensland we expected them to work hard and be physical."
THE FALLOUT… Roar now has a tricky road trip to Telstra Dome to get its campaign back on track while a buoyant FC may've just kick-started their lacklustre season. The Jets' visit to SFS this week just got that bit tastier.
