LIVERPOOL legend Robbie Fowler has vowed to return and play the last game of his career for free when Perth Glory take on Celtic...if he's invited.
Fowler took to the internet to confront keyboard warriors and defend his record at Perth Glory after disappointed fans turned on him when he did a U-turn on a verbal vow to return next season.
At the end of last season, Glory owner Tony Sage revealed Fowler had assured him he would come back to Perth and play under the salary cap...but would sign a new contract to seal the deal.
But Fowler later announced he was NOT going to come back to Perth and would stay on in the UK to move into coaching and spend more time with his family.
But after he came under fire on an online forum, Fowler - who also tweets under the nick @Robbie9Fowler - today took to his PC to blast back.
He insisted he did not want or deserve a farewell game from Glory after just one season at the club.
But he said he would be delighted to take part in the Celtic game as a chance for him to say thanks and goodbye to fans and club staff.
And he pledged to play for free...if he was invited.
"Should i get a farewell game? No, I should not," he said in an online fans forum at LetsTalkFootball.org. "No one has ever said it was gonna be a farewell game.
"The question was put to me, would i be like to play one last game? My answer was if possible i'd love to, not because i feel as though i deserve it.
"Stop being stupid and looking for a way to argue because i aint gonna get into a silly argument with you. I guarantee I will not be getting paid to come over for the game.
"For me it's a chance to get back to Perth to say my goodbyes to the staff and players of Perth Glory who made me feel welcome right from day one and whom I have a lot of time for and hopefully they do of me.
"I realise I was not everyone's cup of tea but I honestly felt I did OK. OK, I scored a few pens and only six from open play as some people keep saying, but feel I contributed in terms of creating chances for others also.
"Regardless of people thinking I never looked fit or worked hard, I can argue all day with that, my fitness was OK and I played more minutes than most in squad.
"As for not working hard, just because I'm not running back and helping out at the back or sprinting all over the pitch doesnt mean I'm not working hard.
"It's called being clever and knowing when to run and where to run which you gain from experience."
He added: "Regardless of what a few people may think, I really enjoyed my time in Perth and Australia and have made friends that I'll have for life.
"Nothing further to add only hope you all get right behind the chairman, the manager and the team and hopefully come the end of the season you will once again be crowned champions...
"Guaranteed i'll still be looking out for your results so good luck!"
