The Thunder are one of three teams to maintain a one hundred percent winning record along with the Richmond Eagles and Green Gully Cavaliers.

Dandenong kicked off proceedings for the round on Friday night with a hard fought 1-0 victory over the Oakleigh Cannons away from home at the Jack Edwards Reserve. Dandenong maintained their unbeaten start to the season with an 89th minute header from Joey Di Iorio after he latched onto a Marcus Stergiopoulos free kick.

Also remaining unbeaten are the Richmond Eagles who defeated the Melbourne Knights 1-0 on Friday night at Kevin Bartlett Reserve. In a tight and tense clash it was a deflected Richie Cardozo free kick in the 74th minute that separated the two teams. The Eagles can also thank goalkeeper Peter Zois for pulling off a number of crucial saves to deny last years' finalists a chance of getting on the scoresheet.

A first half goal from Kris Konstas was enough for the Sunshine Georgies to grab their first win of the season over a combative Hume City on Sunday afternoon. It consigned the newly named Hume City (formerly Coburg United) to their second consecutive defeat and sees them sitting in the relegation zone at this early stage of the season.

In Sunday's other clash, Heidelberg United ruined the 50th birthday celebrations of arch rival South Melbourne with a 1-0 win at Bob Jane Stadium thanks to a goal from new recruit Osagie Ederaro in the 84th minute. Compounding the loss for the home side was the sending off of inspirational defender Ramazan Tavasancioglu for a second bookable offence in the 75th minute. It was the second consecutive loss for South Melbourne, who are considered one of the favourites for the title this year.

In the final match of the round at Green Gully continued the trend of the round with a 1-0 win over the Whittlesea Zebras at Epping Stadium. In what was a rather scrappy affair an Aziz Behich goal after six minutes was all that was needed for the Cavaliers to maintain their one hundred per cent record.

The weekend's other clash between Altona Magic and Preston Lions was abandoned not long after half time as the lights went out again at Paisley Park on Saturday night with the scores locked at 0-0. The match will be rescheduled for later in the season.
