Altona Magic kicked off the action for the round as they hosted Green Gully at Paisley Park on Saturday night. Coming off the back of two consecutive losses the Magic were looking to get their title defence back on track against a Green Gully side beset by injury. And it was the hosts who took all three points as they came away with a much-needed 2-1 win courtesy of a brace to captain, Carl Recchia. Joel Nikolic pulled one for the visitors and could have easily had an equaliser save for some desperate defence from Altona.

Kicking off proceedings on Sunday afternoon were the Oakleigh Cannons, who continued the miserable run of the Preston Lions with a 3-0 victory. Getting on the scoresheet for Oakleigh were Ricky Diaco with a brace and Billy Damianos. The win broke a run of three consecutive home for Oakleigh and leaves them just outside the top five. The loss leaves Preston with only a point after six rounds and without a win to its name.

Dandenong maintained its unbeaten start to the season with a 1-0 win over Sunshine Georgies on Sunday afternoon at Chaplin Reserve. The only goal for the game came via the boot of Colin Quirk in the first half. The Georgies, for their part, will be ruing a miss from the penalty spot that came shortly after Thunder had taken the lead. The win leaves Dandenong three points clear at the top of the table

Sunday also saw Hume City play host to the Melbourne Knights at Broadmeadows Valley Park. On a day where the combination of a bumpy pitch, howling winds and light drizzle made for an unspectacular match it was home side that ran out 2-1 winners. The hero for Hume City was ironically former Knights player Zoran Petrevski who grabbed both of his side's goals whilst for the Knights it was Greg Draper who found the back of the net.

The fourth and final match of what was an action packed Sunday saw South Melbourne pick up its fourth consecutive win and in the process ended the unbeaten streak of the Richmond Eagles at a cold and windy Bob Jane Stadium. The home side ran out comfortable 3-0 winners with goals from Joseph Youssef, Vaughan Coveny and Goran Zoric against an uninspired Richmond side.

The round concluded on Monday night as Heidelberg United took on bottom placed Whittlesea Zebras at the Olympic Village. Whittlesea were coming off a week where they had parted company with coach, Ivan Jolic in attempt to turn around their run of poor form. However, it wasn't to be for the Zebras as Heidelberg grabbed third place on the table with a 1-0 victory courtesy of a Denis Alilovic goal on the stroke of half time.
