Franjic was named by Osieck as one of 12 A-League players which will get together for a camp on the Central Coast next week, along with the Young Socceroos who are preparing for the Under-20 World Cup.

The 25-year-old Melbourne-born right-back made three appearances for Australia at last year’s East Asian Cup and would love to add to that tally when the Socceroos face Japan, Jordan and Iraq next month.

Franjic will likely contend with Luke Wilkshire, Rhys Williams and Ryan McGowan for a start at right-back, but said he offered Osieck something unique with his attacking style.

“You’ve got quality players there like Luke Wilkshire and there’s a few others who can play the position well. I’m sure I’ll bring something different,” Franjic said.

“I’m a very attacking full-back so hopefully that’s what he’s looking for in certain games.”

Franjic’s season with the Roar came to a close more than three weeks ago and he said the opportunity to maintain his fitness whilst trying to impress Osieck was ideal for him.

“It’s definitely nice to be in there. Where else would you want to be?” Franjic said.

“It’s a chance to stay fit and hopefully be in with a chance to play in the World Cup qualifiers. It’s a great opportunity.”

And Franjic reflected on his recent form at the Roar positively, after admitting to playing “catch up” following an injury-affected start to the campaign before hitting his strides later in the season in an advanced role as a winger.

Franjic scored Roar’s second goal in their Elimination Final win over Adelaide United before they bowed out in the Semi Finals to Western Sydney Wanderers.

“I thought I started off a bit slow but towards the end, when I really got fit and moved up to the wing, I thought I had a good finish to the season,” Franjic said.

“I was very happy with it towards the end so that’s something for me to build on at the camp.”
