Bayern have made the worst start to a Bundesliga season in 31 years under their new coach, who decided to arrange this game to keep his players sharp during the break for international matches.

Although many of his squad are away representing their national teams, Klinsmann was still able to field several first-team regulars.

Massimo Oddo, Tim Borowski, Ze Roberto, Breno, Andreas Ottl and Jose Ernesto Sosa were all included in the starting XI against a side coached by former Bayern favourite Thorsten Fink.

And a goal from Steffen Wohlfahrt in the 39th minute was enough to earn the home side a notable win in front of over 5,000 fans.

Several other Bundesliga sides were also in friendly action on Thursday with Albert Streit on target in a 1-0 win for Schalke over Dutch side Heracles Almelo.

Bochum defeated Wattenscheid 4-1 while Cologne were held to a 1-1 draw at Swiss outfit Young Boys Berne.
