FURY coach Ian Ferguson is confident lifestyle will be the deciding factor for Socceroo Scott Chipperfield's final answer on a move to the A-League and North Queensland.
Ferguson is looking to pull off his second major coup by signing the 33-year-old FC Basel player after capturing Anfield legend Robbie Fowler.
NQ Fury officials spent Monday showing off Townsville to wife Stefanie Chipperfield in hope of convincing the family it was the right move for them.
"We're hopefully very close with Scott. I think everything has been agreed and now it's down to lifestyle change for him and his wife and his kids," Ferguson told the Cairns Post.
"If Scott agrees to come that's what it will be down to."
He added: "I'm reasonably happy with how negotiations went and I'm reasonably happy with the feedback I'm getting, but I've had players before say they would come and have them disappear off the radar at the last minute.
"But Scott's an honest boy and open with his beliefs with where he wants to be with his career.
"I think the A-League would be fantastic for him at this time of his career."
Ex-Ranger midfielder Ian Ferguson admitted he never thought the Fury could pull off a signing as big as Fowler and said he was an advertisement to other players interested in playing in the A-League.
"When we first started off, I'll be honest, I didn't think we could attract that calibre of player here but we got him (Fowler) and he obviously came because he liked what he saw," he said.
"From a football perspective, he brings so much on and off the field, more on the field I hope, with his experience and knowledge of the game."
