NORTH Queensland Fury are hoping the switch to floodlit football at Dairy Farmers Stadium will lead to a swell response from supporters.
Fury shared the venue with North Queensland Cowboys for their first two A-League home games but that changes with the new kick-off time of 7pm on Saturday.
"I think any perceptions that it's a rugby league stadium that's been used for football will be gone - the pitch will be ours now until mid-February," North Queensland Fury FC CEO Dean Hassall said.
"The stadium has never had a second tenant over the summer period.
"We've already seen the fantastic atmosphere that's created by a football crowd in our first two home games, but I think the crowd will lift even more for the match against Brisbane, not just because it's a Queensland derby, but because it's the first official clash between the two teams.
"Dairy Farmers Stadium management and the North Queensland Cowboys have been excellent to work with during the period we had to share the venue and I'm sure the positive relationship will continue throughout the Hyundai A-League 2009/10 season."
The match against Brisbane Roar will also be the first Fury home game to be played entirely under lights.
A-League matches against Sydney FC and Melbourne Victory had late afternoon kick-offs.
Hassall said the 7pm kick-off for the North Queensland Fury FC's Round 5 clash with Roar would be more fan-friendly than the earlier starts.
He added: "North Queenslanders are used to a later start time for their sport and the rest of Fury's home games will be in the evening.
"We know there's support for Fury right across the region and now more of our fans will have extra time to get to the matches.
"We hope to see them at Dairy Farmers on Saturday night."
