A-LEAGUE new boys North Queensland Fury struck a last-gasp winner to see off state rivals Brisbane Roar at Tony Ireland Stadium.
Jeremy Brockie's cross deflected off Craig Moore and ended up in the back of Liam Reddy's net to give Fury their first taste of victory against the men from Brisbane.
More than 5,000 fans turned out for the match which saw new boy David Williams impress for the home side with marquee striker Robbie Fowler enjoying another 60 minutes.
Adam Sarota went close for the visitors while Fowler skimmed the crossbar with a second half header. However, it was the performance of Williams that had the home fans buzzing.
Coach Ian Ferguson stressed the importance of the win.
"I'm absolutely delighted with the boys. They put a lot of effort and commitment in and we have beeen improving in the last four games," he said.
Roar coach Frank Farina said: "It was probably a fair result. I thought they had a few good chances but they didn't capitalise so to get that lucky one at the end, they deserved it."
