Sydney are outside the all-important top four with six rounds remaining in the Hyundai A-League 2008/09 season having lost three of their last five matches.

The Sydney-siders currently trail league-leaders Adelaide United by four competition points while the fourth-placed Central Coast Mariners sit two points clear of John Kosmina's men.

"It's a big round for us, hopefully results go our way but we can't rely on that, we just have to go out there and do what we have to do and that's win at all costs," Fyfe said on Friday.

"It's vitally important we get back to winning ways this week and we will."

Fyfe, who will join Adelaide United next season, conceded the side is under pressure to perform but backed his team-mates to turn the season around in the coming weeks.

"There's probably a little bit of pressure but its how you deal with it a as a player and as a team," he said.

"You can go two ways, you can go and hide or you can step up to the plate and we've got the players in the team to step up."

"We want to prove a few points, a few things have been said about us as a team and we're going to go out there and prove to everyone that we're more than capable of winning this competition."

Coach Kosmina said high expectations are a fact of life at the A-League glamour club.

"Everyone's under pressure, we're always under pressure to make the four, we talked about this at the start of the season, it's Sydney FC there's a lot of expectation," he said.

Asked how his players have handled the intense scrutiny of their performances in recent weeks, Kosmina conceded the recent run of results had take a toll on his men but remains confident his side is not far off the pace.

"I think the (the players) have hurt a lot," Kosmina said.

"Last week I think we didn't play badly, we played well in patches in the first half especially the first 10 minutes and we conceded a silly goal."

"The gods aren't smiling on us at the moment, the bounces that we had last week were ridiculous."

Kosmina conceded he is yet to finalise his line-up for Sunday's crucial round-16 clash but warned his players to prepare for a much-improved Perth outfit.

"We know they're up for a fight, they're on a bit of an upswing after a bad start to the season," he said.
