The MLS leaders stretched their unbeaten start to the season to 12 games as Jovan Kirovski scored twice, his first after just 46 seconds and again in the 21st minute to put LA back in front after Cam Weaver had levelled for the Dynamo after five minutes to end a 461-minute run for Bruce Arena's team without conceding a goal.

Tristan Bowen and Alex Cazumba put the game beyond Houston after the break to end an arduous week for the Dynamo, who had played on both east and west coasts inside four days.

The Galaxy now lead the Western Conference by 11 points over MLS reigning champions Real Salt Lake, who were held scoreless by DC United, ending a five-game winning streak.

Houston's Wednesday night conquerors New York enjoyed a 1-0 win over Chivas USA at Red Bull Arena, courtesy of a 27th-minute Seth Stammler long-range shot.

The win for New York moved them clear at the top of the Eastern Conference by three points over the Columbus Crew, who continued to stumble following their first loss of the season last weekend at home to the Galaxy.

The Crew drew 2-2 at the San Jose Earthquakes on Wednesday and went down 1-0 at the Colorado Rapids as Drew Moor headed home the only goal in the 85th minute.

The Earthquakes, meanwhile, were beaten 2-0 at FC Dallas, Brek Shea scoring twice in three minutes just before the hour at Pizza Hut Park.

Toronto FC stretched their unbeaten run to seven games with a scoreless home draw against the Kansas City Wizards as both teams finished with 10 men at BMO Field.

Toronto lost defender Nick Garcia to a straight red card for a challenge on Wizards striker Kei Kamara in the 27th minute but Kansas City were down to 10 men 30 minutes later when Englishman Craig Rocastle picked up his second yellow card of the game.

The Philadelphia Union could not repeat the road performance that gave them the first away win in franchise history last week in Houston as they went down 2-1 at the Chicago Fire.

Goals from Baggio Husidic and Marco Pappa either side of half-time gave the Fire the three points with the Union's Danny Mwanga scoring in the 92nd minute.

And in the late game on the west coast, the previously goal-shy Seattle Sounders, with only nine goals in the campaign before tonight, beat the New England Revolution 3-0 at Qwest Field with first-half goals from Leo Gonzalez, former Arsenal trainee Steve Zakuani and Fredy Montero.
