A BATTLE of east and west saw the Los Angeles Galaxy victorious against the in-form Columbus Crew as they came away with an impressive 2-0 MLS win.
Travelling to face the Eastern Conference leaders, the Galaxy - top of their own Western Conference - scored early and late through Michael Stephens and Tristan Bowen in the 10th and 88th minutes.
It was the Crew's first defeat of the season while the Galaxy remain unbeaten.
The two rock-bottom sides from each conference met as Chivas USA left DC United empty handed following a 3-2 defeat, Carey Talley hitting the injury-time winner from the spot as goalkeeper Zach Thornton was sent off for the foul.
Danny Mwanga's last-gasp winner saw the Philadelphia Union win 3-2 away to the Houston Dynamo.
Another close run thing saw the New England Revolution edge Red Bull New York 3-2 while Real Salt Lake dished out a 4-1 hammering to the Kansas City Wizards.
San Jose Earthquakes were beaten 3-1 at home by Toronto FC, substitute Dwayne De Rosario scoring the 90th-minute winner.
Tonight's other match saw the Colorado Rapids edge the Seattle Sounders 1-0.
