ADELAIDE United goalkeeper Eugene Galekovic has received a late call up into the Socceroos squad following an injury to Reading custodian Adam Federici.
Galekovic replaces Federici who sustained a slight back injury following his English Championship match for his club Reading in their 0-0 draw with Preston North End on Saturday.
The selection comes after Eugene made his Socceroos debut in Jakarta late last month in the AFC Asian Cup 2011 Qualifier against Indonesia.
The Qantas Socceroos will go into the match against Japan sitting at the top of Group A.
In the other Group A match on Wednesday night, Uzbekistan host Bahrain in Tashkent, whilst Qatar have the bye.
